Volunteer Appreciation Party

Notes from the 2015 Haunted House

There are not enough words to express our gratitude to the sponsors and every worker at the 17th Annual READ Haunted House.  We appreciate our "victims", aka customers.  Our incredible sponsors supported us financially or with goods ranging from door prizes to haunted house props.

Our volunteer team of monsters worked themselves to "death" putting on a  horrific show.  With 8,000 sq. feet of haunted house, there was a lot of "scaring to fund literacy" the ten nights we were open.

The HH would be impossible without the backing we are consistently given.  We look forward to the teamwork and good times we will all share setting up and holding HH 2016.  We will do nine Friday and Saturday nights - October 1, 7 & 8, 14 & 15, 21 & 22, 28 & 29 & Halloween night, October 31.

The READ Program/literacy council offers many educational services at no charge in Hot Spring and Saline Counties, AR.  Our services range from basic literacy for adults to peer-tutoring for children; English as a Second Language (ESL) to learning differences screening.

Please look around our web site.  Email or call us with comments or questions about the site or our program.

By looking at our site (even if you got here by accident), something may spark your interest.  We are in Arkansas.  There is a literacy program close to you.  Look them up!  No matter in what capacity you choose to volunteer, literacy is a very rewarding  and worthy cause.

Volunteer tutoring requires a commitment of approximately 2-5 hours per week.  You could volunteer doing administrative duties with little to no commitment time-wise.  You can work as little or as much as you like doing copy work, filing, greeting potential tutors and students and more.

Are you a photographer?  Are you an artist?  We can use your talents!  Would you make a good monster at our annual READ Haunted House (HH)?  Are you a creative builder?  We always need a lot of help for HH set-up.  Choose to build the HH in the winter/spring or warmer weather.

Do you have ideas of other areas with which you might help?  Please contact us, we are always looking for new and better ways to serve our students.
